When the scientific world evaluates the credibility of a clinical trial, among other criteria, they look for who has funded it. We’re thrilled to share that BrainHQ has yet again been selected for a National Institutes of Health (NIH) funded study for long Covid cognitive issues.

In 2021, The NIH also granted $44.4 million to another very large randomized controlled trial using BrainHQ on Preventing Alzheimer’s with Cognitive Training (PACT). This study has several thousand participants and is expected to be completed in 2027.

Based on the strong evidences from over 200 existing studies and while waiting for the results from the new studies, do your brain training today, and if you still don’t have full access, join now.

Kind regards,
Frieda Fanni

Turning back time
In a trio of academic journal articles, researchers have outlined a surprising connection involving platelets—a type of blood cell. The studies behind the articles reveal that a blood factor known as platelet factor 4 (PF4) plays a crucial role in the cognitive benefits experienced through young blood transfusions, the longevity hormone klotho, and regular exercise. Learn how this blood factor turns back time in the aging brain.

The traffic controllers of attention
Struggling to read while a family member has a distracting movie on in the same room? You might need your “visual-movement” neurons to help you stay focused on the page. According to a new study, a key neural mechanism operates like a traffic control centre in the brain’s frontal region, guiding attention toward a task while supressing the pull of tempting distractions. See what this study’s findings say about the brain’s mechanism for managing our attention.

“Mini-brains” for recreating brain development
Organoids are miniature 3D human brain-like models created in a lab. The remarkable technology behind them allows scientists to study brain development from its earliest stages. Recently, scientists applied this technology to create organoids from skin cells of people with autism spectrum disorder. They wanted to recreate brain development in a controlled environment to try to discover the roots of autism spectrum disorder. Find out what this technology has taught us.

Rhythms of the brain
Did you know that your brain takes up as much as 20% of your body’s energy consumption? That means your cardiovascular system has to work closely with your brain to make sure each part of the brain is continuously supplied with the energy it needs. Keeping the brain’s neurons well oxygenated is a task for “neurovascular units.” For the first time, researchers have been able to record these neurovascular units in action in living people. Their rhythm works alongside other rhythmic activity, like brain waves. Hear what the researchers’ findings say about the coordination of these rhythms as we age.

Colourful eating for a healthy brain
You may have heard that antioxidants are part of a healthy diet. Carotenoids are powerful antioxidants that you find in colourful plants like carrots, kale, spinach, and corn. Although studies have shown a strong possibility that carotenoids may protect the brain against damage contributing to Alzheimer’s disease, there hasn’t been a direct correlation until now. Check out what a new report suggests about the connection between carotenoids and brain protection.

Your Brain Holds the Key to Safer Driving!
Your brain is one of the most important pieces of safety equipment when you get behind the wheel of a car. As we age, our reaction times slow down and our field of vision decreases. This means our safety on the road is also reduced. By spending only 10 hours doing the engaging driving cognitive training program you can save your life and the lives of others on the road!
